Will AI avoid exploitation? Artificial general intelligence and expected utility theory

چکیده
Abstract A simple argument suggests that we can fruitfully model advanced AI systems using expected utility theory. According to this argument, an agent will need act as if maximising they’re avoid exploitation. Insofar should expect exploitation, it follows utility. I spell out more carefully and demonstrate fails, but show the manner of its failure is instructive: in exploring gain insight into how systems.

Who Will Win Practical Artificial Intelligence? AI Engineerings in China
Currently, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has won unprecedented attention and is becoming the increasingly popular focus in China. This change can be judged by the impressive record of academic publications, the amount of state-level investment and the presence of nationwide participation and devotion. In this paper, we place emphasis on discussing the progress of artificial intelligence engineer...
متن کاملConvergence of Expected Utility for Universal AI
We consider a sequence of repeated interactions between an agent and an environment. Uncertainty about the environment is captured by a probability distribution over a space of hypotheses, which includes all computable functions. Given a utility function, we can evaluate the expected utility of any computational policy for interaction with the environment. After making some plausible assumption...
متن کاملExpected Uncertain Utility Theory†
We introduce and analyze expected uncertain utility theory (EUU). A prior and an interval utility characterize an EUU decision maker. The decision maker transforms each uncertain prospect into an interval-valued prospect that assigns an interval of prizes to each state. She then ranks prospects according to their expected interval utilities. We define uncertainty aversion for EUU, use the EUU m...
متن کاملNon-expected Utility Theory
The expected utility/subjective probability model of risk preferences and beliefs has long been the preeminent model of individual choice under conditions of uncertainty. It exhibits a tremendous flexibility in representing aspects of attitudes toward risk, has a well-developed analytical structure, and has been applied to the analysis of gambling, games of strategy, incomplete information, ins...
متن کاملExpected Utility Theory
This is a chapter for the forthcoming Handbook of Rational and Social Choice, Paul Anand, Prasanta Pattanaik, and Clemens Puppe, eds., Oxford University Press, 2008. We review classic normative expected utility theory. Our goal is to frame the subsequent chapters (which consider more modern extensions to and deviations from this classic theory) in a way that is accessible to the nonspecialist b...
